WATCHFILM.BIZ.ID - As one of the most reliable streaming services, Prime Video is kicking off the summer season with a fantastic list of new arrivals for June 2024. The most obvious pick of the month is, of course, The Boys Season 4, which has its 3-episode premiere on the streamer on June 13, 2024, with new episodes debuting weekly after.

This latest season of the hit Amazon show, based on the comic book series of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, will see the titular “boys” pushed to even more extreme limits in their overarching battle against the supervillain masquerading as a superhero, Homelander (Antony Starr).

The Boys Season 4: A New Era of Conflict

The Boys creator/showrunner Eric Kripke (Supernatural) has teased that this season is only the beginning of a new conflict, as the likes of Billy Butcher (Karl Urban), Hughie Campbell (Jack Quaid), and Starlight (Erin Moriarty), along with actors Maddie Phillips and Asa Germann reprising their roles from the college spin-off Gen V, also have to stop the rise of corrupt congresswoman Victoria Neuman (Claudia Dormit) in the Oval Office.

Another notable addition this season is actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan (The Walking Dead) as a new mystery character. Eric Kripke has brought in many Supernatural alumni to the Prime Video original series before, like Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy, but this introduction is teased to shake up the show’s entire hierarchy.

Will Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s new formidable character be a friend or foe to Billy Butcher and his team? Fans can find out for themselves as all 8 episodes of The Boys Season 4 release on Prime Video from June-July 2024.

My Lady Jane: An Alternate Historical Adventure

Moving on to another new show that might make noise for the Prime Video streaming service in June 2024, My Lady Jane is not to be missed.

Based on the New York Times best-selling YA historical fiction novel of the same name by Brodi Ashton, Cynthia Hand, and Jodi Meadows, My Lady Jane follows figure Lady Jane Grey in an alternate history where the Nine Days Queen “avoids the executioner’s axe and instead has a life full of romance and adventure”.

Led by newcomer Emily Bader (Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin) as Lady Jane, this latest Amazon series also co-stars the likes of Edward Bluemel (Killing Eve) and Jordan Peters (Everything I Know About Love).

Time will tell whether or not Prime Video’s My Lady Jane will become a phenomenon for lovers of historical fiction similar to Netflix’s Bridgerton, but the streamer seems to betting on it, dropping all episodes on June 27, 2024.

Federer: Twelve Final Days: A Tribute to a Tennis Legend

In terms of Prime Video original films, subscribers can dive into Federer: Twelve Final Days. Directed by Asif Kapadia and Joe Sabia, the documentary follows tennis legend Roger Federer as he announces his retirement and plays a final tournament at the Laver Cup.

Avid sports watchers will definitely want to put Federer: Twelve Final Days on their watch lists when it makes its streaming premiere on June 20, 2024.

Oppenheimer: A Cinematic Masterpiece Arrives

Outside of Amazon movies and shows, the streaming platform has a massive get with the streaming addition of Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer on June 18, 2024.

The historical drama/thriller took home 7 Academy Awards at the 2024 Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Director for Nolan himself, Best Actor for Cillian Murphy, Best Supporting Actor for Robert Downey Jr., Best Original Score for Ludwig Göransson, and Best Cinematography for Hoyte van Hoytema.

Prime Video subscribers who missed Oppenheimer in theaters now get to see what all the buzz was around the Oscar-winning performances from Cillian Murphy as J. Robert Oppenheimer, the father of the Atomic Bomb, and Robert Downey Jr. as bureaucrat Lewis Strauss.

Classic Films and Comedies to Brighten Your June

Other pre-existing films coming to Prime Video in June 2024 include Bram Stoker’s Dracula. The Francis Ford Coppola-directed adaptation of the original horror story, starring Keanu Reeves and Gary Oldman, is the perfect way to prepare for the filmmaker’s forthcoming ambitious project, Megalopolis.

Moreover, subscribers hungry for another New Hollywood auteur film on the streaming giant can check out Steven Spielberg’s Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

Now is a good time to catch up on older Spielberg movies as the iconic director just announced that his next feature, rumored to be about UFOs, will hit theaters in May 2026. Meanwhile, for those into the current auteurs, Rian Johnson’s neo-noir mystery and debut feature Brick is now available to stream as well.

What’s a streaming service without a few laughs? Gather a group of friends around the TV because both unrated cuts of Superbad and Dirty Grandpa are now streaming on Prime Video. Lastly, while Godzilla Minus One just got added to Netflix this month, Kaiju fans will be happy to see that 8 other classic Godzilla films just made their streaming debut on Prime Video in June 2024.
